The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS, Oyo State is appealing to the management on behalf of students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, to show compassion and accommodate students who are yet to pay their school fees in the forthcoming first semester examinations scheduled to commence on Monday 6th of May, 2019.
According to NANS, in a statement made available to OYO INSIGHT by its chairman, Asubiojo Olujuwon, “This No Tuition-No Examination policy if implemented, will prevent over 9000 thousand (Nine Thousand) students from writing their examinations.
“Over 2000 of these 9000 students are final year students who have over stayed in school already due to the incessant industrial actions of staffs unions that left the institution shut for over 13 months in the past. In similar vein, considering the economic realities of the country, it will be unsafe to apply such measures.
“Therefore, preventing these final years students will sadly secure them an automatic extra year – an of course other students an undue overstay on campus.
“NANS Oyo State therefore appeal to the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Michael O. Ologunde led management to act as loco parentis by showing compassion for the sake of the indigent and final year students, kindly allow these students sit for their examinations.
“While NANS trust that they will grant this appeal in good faith, we extend our regards of the highest order. Thanks and God bless.”
