May Day: Adelabu Advocates Improved Welfare, Creation Of More Jobs

    On the occasion of May 1st, International Workers Day, a former deputy governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Chief Adebayo Adelabu has joined millions of people across the country in commemorating and celebrating the immense contributions of workers across the nation towards national growth and development.

    In his May Day message released to the press through his media aide, Comrade Femi Awogboro, Adelabu recognized that the progress and success of any nation largely depend on the hard work, dedication, and commitment of its workforce. He therefore commended workers across all sectors for their invaluable contributions, their resilience, and unwavering commitment to their duties over the years.

    “As a nation, Nigeria owes its progress and growth to the tireless efforts of workers in various sectors of the economy, including the public and private sectors, the informal sector, and essential services. These workers, who make up the backbone of the Nigerian economy, deserve recognition and appreciation for their contributions towards the development of our nation”, Adelabu opined.

    He reiterated that despite the challenges of the past years and with the exception of few bad eggs, Nigerian workers have remained resilient and steadfast in their duties.

    “As we celebrate this year’s Workers Day, it is essential to remember that workers’ welfare is a critical aspect of national development. Improved workers’ welfare leads to higher productivity, better living standards, and overall economic growth”, he advised.

    He, therefore called on the government and private sector leaders to prioritize improving workers’ welfare through increased remuneration, better working conditions, and access to quality healthcare, among other measures.

    Furthermore, he urged the government to work towards creating more job opportunities for the growing population of young Nigerians, particularly in emerging sectors such as technology, communication and renewable energy. By creating more jobs, the government can reduce the incidence of unemployment and create more opportunities for economic growth and development.

    In conclusion, Adelabu commended Nigerian workers for their contributions towards national development and wished them a happy Workers Day celebration. He called on all stakeholders to prioritize workers’ welfare and create an enabling environment for them to thrive.
