The Seyi Makinde led Oyo State Government has reviewed the duration of maternity leave for workers in the state from four to six months.
This was revealed by the Commissioner for Establishments and Training, Prof. Kehinde Sangodoyin while briefing journalists at the end of the 30th Executive Council meeting held on Tuesday .
He explained that the review was in line with the recommendation of the World Health Organization (WHO).
Prof. Sangodoyin said all pregnant women and nursing mothers in the state civil and public service are entitled to the leave, adding that nursing mothers would go on leave four weeks to the expected delivery date.
He however pointed out that workers would be entitled to the leave only four times while in the service of the state.
