The executive chairman of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, Prince Dotun Oyelade, has responded to the allegation by Chief Niyi Akintola SAN that Governor Seyi Makinde does not have a Think Tank, a body of people that brainstorms for him.

Oyelade, at an inter-ward meeting held in Ogbomoso over the weekend asked Akintola to tell the world why he engaged in serial attacks and criticism of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi during and after his governorship tenure even when he now claims to be a member of his Think Tank at the time.

“More importantly, Chief Akintola will do public a lot of good by telling us what also caused rift between former Governor Ajimobi and Prof Ademola Ariyo, the head of the Think Tank that led to their parting ways before the end of Ajimobi tenure,” said the veteran broadcaster.

According to Oyelade, “it is incorrect to say that Makinde has no management team for Covid-19 just because he wisely chose to deploy proven medical professionals like virologists, epidemiologists and other experienced medicals of long standing who are globally recognised to advise him on the pandemic.

“Makinde does not have to select rehearsed lawyer politicians to advise on a turf in which they are ignorant neither does he have to consult a senior advocate on how to handle the stethoscope” Oyelade asked.

He said it was absurd and uncharitable for Chief Akintola to have threatened to refuse to release the financial palliative he wanted to give to the vulnerable ones in the state if Makinde does not constitute a Management Team on Covid 19.

Akintola should hold on to his money after all, kind-hearted people including older Ibadan elders have contributed generously without conditionalities.

“If Akintola wants Governor Makinde to replicate the Think Tank that advised the last administration to engage in obvious anti-people policies, then he will be well advised to keep his cheque book in his chambers.”
