Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde is toeing the path of Obafemi Awolowo in terms of administrative legacy, the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party in Southwest Nigeria, Kamarudeen Ajisafe has said.
This was just as he said that Makinde and his Osun counterpart, Ademola Adeleke are directly imparting the people of their respective states.
The PDP chieftain gave this scoreline on the performance of Governor Makinde while speaking at a briefing with journalists at the party’s southwest secretariat in Ibadan in Friday.
“In terms of the performance of the two governors we have, look at Oyo state for example, Seyi Makinde is towing the line of Obafemi Awolowo. There are three major roads to enter Iseyin for example, two of them are ready and the third is on its way. Look at the internal roads in Ibadan too, the man is doing well in all sectors.
“When you go to Osun, the same thing is happening. At a go, the government is constructing five flyovers. About 189 kilometres of road in total are under construction. We met 30 months of half salary debts in Osun. And we have paid five or six of this,” the PDP chieftain said.
He also noted that even though his party controls the leadership of only two states in the Southwest, people feel the impacts of governance in these states compared to their neighbours in the region. He attributed this to the people-centred leadership ideology of the party.
“The difference between the two
PDP governors and the APC is that PDP governors are more committed to serving the people by concentrating on areas that directly affect the populace.”
He added that the party is ready for the off-cycle gubernatorial election in Ondo State, noting that they are going to leverage their party’s leadership success in Oyo and Osun to “tell the Ondo people that they will enjoy the same thing people in Oyo and Osun are enjoying.”
