According to Oyekan, the project was informed by the need to erect a befitting edifice where the meetings and other business of the traditional council will be carried out.

The council currently holds its meetings at a building owned by Ibadan Local Government Property located in Town Planning, Ring Road.

Oyekan explained that the project was nichnamed a ‘mini Mapo Hall’ to further develop Ibadan and make it comfortable for the traditional council members to carry out their duties.
