Makinde Replaces Afonja With Sepeteri-born Lawal


Three months after sacking Prof. Raphael Afonja, Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has nominated a Sepeteri-born lawyer, Alh Lawal Ismail Ayansiju as Commissioner of Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport.

The Governor forwarded the name of the new Commissioner to the State Legislature on Monday in a letter sent to the Oyo State House of Assembly.

“I wish to inform the Honorable House that another personality considered suitable to serve as Honorable Commissioner for Public Works, Infrastructure and Transport, had been decided in person of Alh Lawal Ismail Ayansiju. On this basis , the Rt Hon Speaker and other Honorable members are therefore requested to kindly screen and consider his appointment as Honorable Commissioner,” Makinde wrote in the letter.

Reading the letter at the floor of the House, the Speaker, Oyo State House of Assembly, Hon Adebo Ogundoyin said the screening of the Commissioner designate would be done before the House goes on recess.

The Speaker thereafter directed the Commissioner Nominee to appear before the legislature on the 14th December, 2020 for screening.
