Unknown to many, Governor Seyi Makinde last Thursday recalled one Mr Olayinka Alli, who was compulsorily retired three days after he was appointed permanent secretary, PS, by the administration of former governor Abiola Ajimobi.
Another amendment Makinde made was the promotion of Mr Joel Ajagbe to the position of PS.
According to Newspeakonline, Ajagbe was said to have gotten to the top of the civil service ladder but was never appointed pS by the former administration.
The news had come as a surprise to workers in the state as they were only expecting the inauguration of new commissioners that day.
The inauguration of the 14 new PS took place shortly before the 14 new commissioners were sworn in.
The new PS who took the oath of office and allegiance administered on them by director of cabinet, Mr Fatai Omokemi, included five women and nine men.
OYO INSIGHT recalled that Ajimobi had promoted some directors to the position of PS few days before leaving office. But Makinde reversed the promotion, saying that he discovers that “due diligence was not followed in the appointments.”
Makinde recalled that after his inauguration, he did a review of the appointments and why they were done ‘hastily’ and discovered that the process was fraught with irregularities.
