The launch of the foundation was announced at a Press conference in Ibadan on Thursday.

Speaking at the conference, the convener and chief host, Mr Olusegun Agboola said:”Today is like a divine instruction that says if you know how to think, you will know how to thank. The history of this family is steeped in help from above and God help us so that we can help others.”

“We are here today to introduce a foundation in the name of our late father, Chief Ezekiel Agboola popularly known as Mafoya Oluwa Mbe.

“This moniker was coined from the translation of Isiah 41:10 in the Yoruba language which instructs that we should not fear, lose hope, or be dismayed,”he noted.

He explained that of all the teachings of the late Chief Agboola, the moniker ‘Mafoya Oluwa Mbe’ remains the most important.

“As living witnesses to his blessings and to carry forward his legacy, we havr instituted this Mafoya Oluwa Mbe Foundation as such, and seek to continue as agents, in the ethos of the Word of God that promises a ready help.”

He also explained that to carry out the activities of the foundation, the family plans to establish a N101 million intervention philanthropic fund. The intervention fund, according to him, was pegged at a hundred and one million to signify the age the family’s late patriarch, Chief Agboola passed away.

The activities of the foundation will cover education, mentoring, health and empowerment.

Speaking on education as a core aspect of the foundation’s activities, he explained that “according to available statistics, Nigeria has about 12 million out of school children with Oyo State having about 10% of those figures.

“It is totally not acceptable that such could be happening and persist in our community. The government alone cannot provide affordable education to the teeming population in our dear state. We hope to make our contribution in assisting the indigents, who otherwise may not have the required help.”

Mr. Agboola also revealed that the foundation will launch an educational support grant — Ademola Akofe Agboola Award.

The award was named after Ademola Akofe, the first child of the late patriarch, who died untimely.

“The Ademola Akofe Agboola Award will be an Education Support Grant to be awarded to an educational institution that is working with indigent and out of school children without profit and the hope and aspiration of turning their fortunes around, giving such beneficiaries the opportunities, they would not ordinarily have,” he added.
