They say that in politics talk is the freest and cheapest commodity that can ever be possessed or traded by its players both those who are relevant and those who are not. Or how better can one express the shock when a local government ward councillor opens his mouth to vilify the sacred and sanctimonious office of the President calling him unimaginable names all in the name of playing politics? Perhaps its hightime we all vetted that ancient but rare truth: talk is indeed free and cheap.
The uncouth vituperation of a Johnny-Just-Come who was a Commissioner for just two years and a shaky legal practitioner whose onions are always being subjected to perpetual and damning controversy – as many Oyo political pundits are oft to posit – is not worth the precious attention of serious minded politicians but for the records being palpably falsified and unstraightened. Lowo Obisesan is known for his incessant cum attitudinal attachment for attention seeking hence his recent balderdash recently published on Nigerian Tribune on the state of the APC in Oyo state does not come as a surprise to many. Having personified himself as a desperate disease, it is pertinent that the Hippocratic suggestive desperate remedy treatment ought to be meted out with rational alacrity on Lowo Obisesan forthwith.
First Lowo Obisesan with that interview recently granted Tribune Newspaper has exposed his main object for the sudden foray back to politics. Aside the fact that he is struggling as a legal practitioner from where his net proceeds could no longer maintain his pretentious and fake lifestyle, Lowo Obisesan saying that technocrats should no longer be made the Governor of Oyo State but only the politicians shows how mundane and backward his thought is. The idea of wanting to install a puppet and moron as a governor who his likes could order about in a bid to looting the state’s treasury is ringing in his head. How then will Nigeria be blessed with the likes of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu who worked most of his formative years as an Accountant with multinational firms before becoming the Governor of Lagos State if the idea of jettisoning technocrats as governors were to hold sway? Babatunde Raji Fashola SAN – that legal wizard and former trinity-fold Minister who is currently serving Nigeria excellently well as a Minister won’t have even been the solution to some of our politician-defying problems were he not to have first hatched his leadership egg as the former governor of Lagos State. Senator Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi the builder of modern Oyo State is another example of what it means having technocrats in positions of power. We need not even go as far as Beijing or Adelaide before mention can be made of the ever loyal and supportive Vice-President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN GCON. All his life the Vice-President has been a legal technocrat having done excellently well as the Honourable Attorney General and Commissioner Justice in Lagos State. Now he is the scion of the number two family of Nigeria contributing immensely to the unity and progress of the country. His Excellency President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR was a military technocrat when in 2015 we all voted him into power to help stabilize the hitherto messed up Nigerian economy and polity. Lowo Obisesan’s mission is simple: he wants a puppet at Agodi whom his ilks can remote-control and jointly run the state’s treasury dry. Was it not on the basis that he was a lawyer/technocrat that the former administration appointed him as a Commissioner? And when it was apparent that his agenda was to loot and exploit the weak, he was shown the way out thereby making mockery of himself in the most unceremonious way.
The present leadership of APC in Oyo State is not in controversy. The party executives went through the normal process and all interests were duly consulted. When the present crop of APC excos were being elected, Lowo Obisesan was busy prostituting with different political parties e.g. jumping from Labour Party (LP) to African Democratic Congress (ADC). He unsuccessfully picked the gubernatorial ticket of Labour Party (LP) and did same at African Democratic Congress (ADC) where again he lost out. Lowo Obisesan while his leg was purportedly in ADC has his mouth in APC raking in money by crook and foul means and busy deceiving his followers and promising them political appointments when he has none to offer. As we speak, the purported reconciliation committee he made mention is not known and has no root.
In a bid to making himself relevant, he crafted a committee for himself and made the media his next home to garner attention and relevance at all cost. The question is: in which meeting was he made the Reformers Committee head? Who constituted the said meeting? Who are his members? Where was Lowo Obisesan during the 2019 general elections? Did APC win in his polling unit and local government? Does he have clout? Who are his followers and who are his leaders in the state? Until Lowo Obisesan answer these questions, he should keep quiet and stop constituting political nuisance.
The Oyo State APC leadership of Senator Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi was recently confirmed when during his 70 years birthday anniversary His Excellency the Vice-President Professor Yemi Osinbajo SAN and his wife Mrs Dolapo Osinbajo, Chief Bisi Akande, Akinrogun Olusegun Osoba, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, Prince Dapo Abiodun, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the Chairman of Nigeria Governor’s Forum Dr. Kayode Fayemi and numerous other political leaders graced the occasion with all maintaining the superintedence of Senator Abiola Adeyemi Ajimobi over Oyo State APC.
Lowo Obisesan is known for fanning the embers of confusion and distraction. Anywhere he is, he must engage in sinister ploy to cause confusion in order to have his way. He is a confused driver looking for confused passengers. Many who dont know him fall for his unfortunate gimmicks: a green snake under green grass he is.
We hereby state categorically that Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, Chief Bisi Akande and Otunba Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala are men who wont soil their hands and have anything doing with anything capable of dividing APC further in Oyo State. And as such it will be unwise of a Lowo Obisesan to drag these great men into his war of recrimination and attrition. Oyo APC is rising above fog and getting stronger by the day. Like any human endeavour we wont deny that there are some little hitches which reflect basically in some ideological differences, we are getting back stronger and better. We have seen our differences as catalysts for building on our weaknesses and coming out better and stronger. We are taking care of the dissidents and the aggrieved and hopefully getting back to fix all issues.
Rather than engaging in sheer blackmail, Lowo Obisesan should drop his cacophonic demeanour and don the garb of progressivism. He is however welcome back to the party because APC is large enough to accommodate all shades of opinion, orientation, thought matters and their legitimate fence-mending desires.
