Lybia and Egypt had to overcome Ghana and Ivory Coast, their West African adversaries, to make it an all North African final match.

In the first semi final match played at Ilaji Resort’s Minifootball Stadium, Lybia had to come from behind twice to take the highly pulsating match with Ghana to a penalty shootouts.

The Ghanians who fought like wounded lions suffered from profligacy as they would have put the game to bed with nothing less than three clear chances wasted after they were one goal up.

Their fluid attacking play at the initial stage distabilised the well oiled defence of the Lybians. However, the North African had to slowly and tactfully played themselves into the game to mske the score line 2 goals apiece.

The two teams could not find each other’s net in the extra time and the Lybians known for their penalty accuracy did not disappoint as they scored all their penalty kicks while Ghanians once again wasted theirs.

In the second semi-final match, Egypt defeated Ivory Coast by 3 goals to 1.

Meanwhile, the third place match also known as the Losers’ match between Ghana and Ivory Coast is slated for 2:00pm.
