Olajide Olatoye, elder brother of late Temitope Olatoye Sugar, has declared interest in the Akinyele/Lagelu seat in the house of representatives.
Big Daddy, as the senior Olatoye is called, made this known during the annual Olatoye Sugar Political Dynasty day at the family’s Alape Village at Igbo-Elerin area of Lagelu local government.
The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, chieftain assured that he would continue from where his brother, who was assassinated on election day in 2019, stopped.
Saying that his late brother was a lover of development who touched thousands of lives within and outside political office, Olatoye said that “this village’s waterdam single-handedly constructed by late Hon. Sugar and that has been faulty, abandoned and dilapidated since his demise has now been repaired, renovated and made functional by Olatoye political dynasty. This main road from Elesu-Aboke-Alape-Ajipa-Ogunjana which was usually graded and put to functional use by our deceased brother but has almost been blocked has been attended to as you all could see on your way coming here. I also noticed this morning that a block of 3 classrooms with borehole constructed by my brother here needs further attention and we will surely see to this in earnest by God’s Grace. Through Olatoye political dynasty and our foundation, we will soon start educational scholarships for indigent students of this Alape village and shall later be extended to the entire Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency by the Grace of Almighty Allah.
“Having been encouraged, motivated and challenged by the good people of Akinyele/Lagelu and in our course of seeking sustainable development for our dear nation, love for the downtrodden and strong passion to further improve human welfare as passionately pursued and implemented by late Hon. Sugar, we have consulted widely within and outside the political circle in all the 26 wards in Akinyele/Lagelu local governments and Oyo State at large; the students, youth, women, artisans, technocrats as well as several traditional and opinion leaders, the Olatoye political household has therefore resolved by the total support and Grace of Almighty God and the support of you all to use this medium to humbly present my humble self, Hon Olajide Olusina Olatoye popularly called Big Daddy Sugar as an aspirant for the Akinyele/Lagelu seat in the house of representatives, Abuja.
“It is on record that, opinion leaders are yelling for Lagelu candidature for this position with the campaign tagged *’Lagelu Lokan’* because of an earlier zoning arrangement between leaders of the two LGAS. In order to fulfil this agreement, despite all brightened chances, Hon. Olatoye Sugar refused to return to the house of representatives in 2019 and opted for the senate before the sad occurrence on gubernatorial election day, March 9, 2019 that claimed his life. May his gentle soul rest in peace.
“We know there are highly qualified aspirants from both constituencies but I strongly appeal to our brethren from Akinyele LGA whose son currently holds the seat even when development and governance has almost been non-existent since his emergence and perhaps because of old age, non-preparedness or his being imposed by the deposed APC government in Oyo state. Hence, we tag our movement Liberation 2023. That is a breath of fresh air in our beloved federal constituency.
“Our great constituency should be liberated from bad representation, bench-warming at the national assembly, acute poverty, neglect of developmental projects, intolerant leadership, youth unemployment, insensitivity to the plights of the local traditional council and people at the grassroot especially the women youth and less privileged.
“Therefore, by the special grace of Almighty God and your highly solicited privileged mandate, I, Hon. Olajide Olusina Olatoye through your collective supports if given the Peoples Democratic Party Ticket to run for the house of representatives, shall win the seat at the general elections. I will work closely with our great party leaders and other stakeholders across the globe to ensure total success for our party from the presidential elections down the line. I am and shall continue to be a dedicated party man to the core by ensuring party supremacy which exhibits internal democratic mechanisms at all times. By this liberation speech, I rededicate myself and the entire late Olatoye Sugar Political Dynasty to the second term governorship ambition of our mentor, great leader, astute administrator, Fogbontolu of the universe, His Excellency, Engr. “After winning the general elections as your honourable member of the house of representative, Abuja, I shall ensure qualitative and purposeful representation at the national assembly, sustainable projects facilitation, secured youth employment at governmental and non-governmental agencies, multi-functional partnerships at all levels for sustainable development of Akinyele/Lagelu Federal Constituency vis a vis education, health, agriculture, tourism and social well-being. To actualize this divine mandate, I seek your support all,” he concluded.
