The gubernatorial candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2019 general elections in Oyo State, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin on Wednesday declared that his party’s struggle to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and defeat its candidate, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu, in the next general elections in the state is certain.

Lanlehin made this declaration while addressing a press conference held in Ibadan, the state capital.

At the conference were: candidate of the party for Ibadan North West/ Ibadan South West in the House of Representatives, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun, as well as Hon. Olusegun Olaleye, Hon. Remi Sodiq, Hon. Abeeb Balogun, Hon. Lasun Adebunmi.

Lanlehin, who represented Oyo South District in the National Assembly between 2011 and 2015, while addressing journalists, said it was certain that Ajimobi’s tenure ends on May 29, 2019 and anyone who want to continue with his legacy will not be accepted by the people to the state.

He said, “The struggle to unseat this government is certain. That is the government that must be sent out. And by the grace of God, it will be achieved.

“The government of Ajimobi ends on 29th May 2019, and anyone who wants to continue with his legacy will not be accepted by the people of the state. Like I said, all the projects are contracted.

“All our industries must be revived. Every two weeks they go and attract investors, and tell me how many of them have you seen. We are going to take over the government of Oyo state. I can assure you that when I become governor, I still have my legs and head with the people.

“You must not leave your people, the legacy is what we needed. I know how painful it is when I see people without jobs for years. And when I was in Senate, I opened file of CVs, we are going to revive the agricultural sector. We are going to provide jobs for the unemployed.

“We are going to bring back trade schools, if you are a degree holder, we will find you jobs but you must contribute to the society. We are going to restore our education sector as far as the constitution allow us to do.”

Lanlehin added that the former governor of the state, Senator Rasidi Ladoja, despite the fact that he has dumped ADC and joined Zenith Labour Party, still remains his leader, father and someone whom he holds in high esteem.

“Former governor Ladoja today remains my leader, he remains my father and leader and a person I have a lot of respect for. We were together in the NADECO. He was in the Senate while I was in the House of Representatives representing Ikeja Federal Constituency. But for one thing or the other, he is no more in ADC.”

He said that despite the fact that Ladoja has left the ADC, he was confident that with the support of other political bigwigs, the ADC remains the party to beat in the elections.

He said, “We have the likes of other political bigwigs in the state who are in our party. They are going to lead our campaign. One of them is a former secretary to the state government, Chief Michael Koleoso, another former SSG, Chief Olayiwola Olakojo and another former SSG, Dr. Busari Adebisi”.
