Politicians from across political divides on Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, put aside their differences to celebrate a late former governor of the state, Alhaji Lam Adesina, who died seven years ago.
Amidst eulogies by politicians and prayers by Islamic clerics for the repose of his soul, one of his sons, Adedapo Lam-Adesina gave out N1.2m bursary awards to indigent students.
The 40-year-old Adesina, who is a former federal lawmaker from Ibadan North East and South East Federal Constituency, said his father believed in education as a means of liberating ignorance, adding that “the beneficiaries would continue to grow year-in, year-out.”
The party chiefs who converged under Lamist Political Family consisted of politicians who believe in the progressive political tenets of late Adesina who was the governor of Oyo State between 1999-2003 on the platform of Alliance for Democracy.
