The former Governor of Oyo State, Rashidi Ladoja, was conspicuously absent at the inauguration of the new Governor of the state, Mr. Seyi Makinde, on Wednesday.
Ladoja, the leader of the Zenith Labour Party coordinated other opposition parties, African Democratic Congress, Social Democratic Party to adopt Makinde of the Peoples Democratic Party as the candidate. Their efforts also contributed to the victory of Makinde against Chief Bayo Adelabu, the candidate of the ruling All Progressives Congress.
PUNCH reliably gathered that Ladoja was sighted at his Bodija, Ibadan residence but chose to stay away for reasons yet to be ascertained.
His media aide, Alhaji Lanre Latinwo who was contacted on the development told our correspondent on the telephone that, “I didn’t meet him in the house when I got there in the morning and he is yet to return when we arrived from Liberty. Until I see him, I wouldn’t know why he was not there. I believe he went somewhere.”
