A former speaker of the Oyo State House of Assembly, Asimiyu Alarape, has been appointed senior legislative aide to the speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abass.
The appointment, OYOINSIGHT.COM scooped, was on the recommendation of Akeem Adeyemi, three-term member representing Oyo federal constituency.
Alarape was speaker of the Oyo Assembly between November 1999 and 2003. And 20 years after, between 2019 and 2023, he was minority leader of the same legislative house.
In a chat with Skimeh, as the Oyo prince is fondly called, Alarape has conducted himself as a committed party member over the years.
Skimeh, who chairs the house committee on agricultural colleges and institutions, said Alarape’s experience comes handy for the new role, adding that Speaker Abass would find him valuable for the job.
