JUST IN: Police IG Bows To Pressure, Disbands SARS

Adamu Mohammed, the inspector-general of police, has announced the immediate disbandment of the special anti-robbery squad (SARS) following nationwide protests over its brutality.

He announced this at a press conference on Sunday afternoon in Abuja.

There has been a nationwide call for a scrap of the police unit due to widespread allegations of extortion and brutality.
