Men of Nigeria Police Force have arrested about 30 PDP agents who are allegedly involved in vote-buying in some polling units in Ibadan, the capital of Oyo State.
In Oyo West, two INEC staff, Akano Abayomi and Jayeola Olanrewaju were arrested after being found with ballot boxes meant for polling units in Oluwatedo area of the council area.
Eyewitnesses told our correspondents in telephone conversations that they have been detained in nearest police stations.
According to the eyewitness reports, the PDP agents were arrested while distributing N5000 Voucher Carda to voters in their polling units.
The polling units where the suspected vote-buyers were arrested included Ward 10, units 10, 6, 7, 1 and 12 in Akinyele LGA; Ward 11, units 003, 004, 006, 14 and 15, Abayomi – Ibadan Northeast LGA;
“There is open voting buying and distribution of N5000 vouchers and food items at all polling units at Abayomi Area, Ibadan North-East LGA” an eyewitness disclosed on phone.
Efforts to reach the police spokesperson to confirm the arrests proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
