Olagunju became speaker two months ago following the death of Hon. Adesina Michael Adeyemo, who was speaker from 2015 till he died in April, 2018.

He contested the speakership with deputy speaker, Wasiu Musah. The lawmaker later reached a consensus on election day as the lawmakers were almost divided equally.

While Olagunju, then minority leader as he was elected under Labour Party, LP, was chosen to be speaker, Musah of the All Progressives Congress, APC, was asked to continue as number two.

Since then, the House has been divided. It was further divided with the emergence of the breakaway of the APC in Oyo State- Unity Forum.

As it stands, 16 of the 32-member Assembly are set to decamp to the newly formed African Democratic Congress, ADC.

Hon. Bolaji Badmus (Akinyele 2) who was chairman of local government and chieftaincy matters has been replaced with Safiu Olalere (Ido). Badmus is now to chair solid minerals.

Hon. Muideen Olagunju (Oyo East/Oyo West) has been removed as chair of the House committee on public petition.

Hon. Afeez Adeleke (Iseyin/ Itesiwaju) has been replaced with Hon. Solomon Akande (Ogbomoso South) as chairman of Education committee. He is to chair the justice committee.

Hon. Gbenga Oyekola (Atiba) has been replaced with Hon. Joshua Oyebamiji (Akinyele 1) as chairman of security and special duties committee.

Details later.
