Two-term former member of the House of Representatives, Saheed Akinade-Fijabi has rejected the ticket extended to him by ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State.
OYOINSIGHT.COM had reported how Makinde had named Akinade-Fijabi who had contested four times as candidate for Ibadan North West/South West federal constituency under the governor’s yet-to-be announced party.
Akinade-Fijabi had won in 2011 and 2015 and lost in 2019 and 2023, all under the All Progressives Congress, APC, before joining the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, late last year.
A source close to the Ibadan-born politician said the former lawmaker has rejected the ticket.
Said the source: “he said that he doesn’t want house of representatives’ ticket and that he never vied for it; that he should be given to those that want it. Though he reaffirms his loyalty to Governor Seyi Makinde and willingness to work with him. He will communicate it to Seyi tomorrow.”
