The court of appeal sitting in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, has struck out an appeal by Alhaji Hazeem Gbolarumi against the selection of Sen. Kola Balogun as candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
Gbolarumi had challenged the selection of Balogun as the party’s candidate for Oyo South senatorial district, saying that the senator didn’t participate in the primaries.
Balogun later defeated former governor Abiola Ajimobi at the February 23, 2019 senatorial poll.
OYO INSIGHT recalls that Chief Bayo Lawal, who has just been nominated as commissioner, had defeated Gbolarumi in the party. He later conceded the ticket to Balogun who joined PDP from the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
The PDP had said that it granted a waiver to Balogun before it gave him the senatorial ticket.
