Alex Gboyega, a renowned professor of political science, who retired from the University of Ibadan, UI, is dead.

Gboyega’s death brings to four the demise of illustrious indigenes of the ancient town.

Exactly a month ago, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi, Soun of Ogbomosoland, joined his ancestor. Only last Saturday, the monarch’s daughter, Prof. Taibat Danmole died. And today, two illustrious sons — Gboyega and Alao-Akala died hours apart.

An affable academic of high repute and a clear sighted leader of thought who loved Ogbomoso passionately, Gboyega placed his vast intellectual acumen at the service of his community to the very last.
