For the third consecutive time, Governor Abiola Ajimobi has jeopardized bids by one of the sons of late Aare Musulumi of Yorubaland, Alhaji AbdulAzeez Arisekola, Umar-Farouk Arisekola, to serve the people of Ibadan North.
Rather than allow them go for direct primaries, he asked the 36-year old former commissioner and 6 others for his former chief details, Mr. Sahid Aderounmu.
In the 2015 primaries, the young Arisekola came second as he did not get the needed support from the governor. Not long ago, his bid to become chairman of Ibadan North local government did not see the light of the day as the governor had another person in mind.
Arisekola, Aderounmu, Musiliu Akinremi, Adepeju Esan, Olanrewaju Otiti, Bolanle Agbaje and two others have bought nomination forms to contest the All Progressives Congress, APC, primaries for Ibadan North federal constituency seat in the House of Representatives.
Sources at the meeting confided in OYO INSIGHT that “Ajimobi told all the 7 aspirants to step down for his former security officer and made to sign a withdrawal form, unwillingly. The party had told them they will go for indirect primaries but they are now secretly doing consensus against the feelings of the people who bought forms with their hard earned cash.”
