The National Working Committee of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, May have nullified the candidacy of Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as its gubernatorial candidate for Oyo State.
OYO INSIGHT learnt that the aspirants have been told to choose one of them before 4:00 pm before Wednesday, 31st October, 2018
This newspaper learnt that the meeting to this effect held today at Barrister Lowo Obisesan’s Oke-Ado office where the National executives of the party led by Chief Ralph Nwosu gathered other party stakeholders in an attempt to resolve the crisis surrounding the selection of the governorship candidate of the party.
The meeting was intense as aggrieved members of the party expressed their displeasure at the perceived injustice and high-handedness of the party leaders in the state.
It will be recalled that the ADC had reportedly named Senator Olufemi Lanlehin as the governorship candidate before making a U-turn to nominate a national executive of the party, Dele Ajadi as tentative candidate just so the party could meet up with the deadline given by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
However, the party has agreed to pick a consensus candidate which will be decided on by the 13 gubernatorial aspirants of the party tomorrow.
The meeting held today had in attendance, party leaders as well as the aspirants including Barrister Sharafadeen Abiodun Alli, Hon. Festus Wale Adegoke, Dr. Nurein Aderemi Adeniran, Mr. Ayodele Adigun, Dr. Yunus Abiodun Akintunde and Ambassador Taofeek Arapaja.
Other aspirant present are: Senator Gbenga Babalola, Dr. Mohammed Kola Balogun, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Engineer Aderemi Olaniyan and Otunba Oluseye Opatoki.
Engineer Aderemi Oseni and Barrister Ayanlowo Obisesan were not able to attend the meeting as both of them are out of town but the national leadership of the party obtained their consent to the resolution.
