The shift might not be unconnected with the reconfiguration of thr Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).

A source close to INEC who spoke to our correspondent on the condition of anonymity said reconfiguring the BVAS in the wake of court case by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP) challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress Presidential Candidate Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and the Appeal Court granting INEC approval to reconfigure today is the reason.

According to him, it will be difficult for INEC to finish the reconfiguration with just 48 hours before the Governorship election.

The shift will also allow INEC to improve on the election logistics and management that happened in last presidential and national assembly elections especially in areas where there were problems.

While there were hitches with the presidential and national assembly elections where results were not immediately uploaded on the INEC server, the commission has promised for a seemless election during the second round of elections.
