IBB Tasks Campus Radio Broadcasters To Be Educative

A call has gone to all campus community radio broadcasters in Nigeria to always in their educative and information dissemination connect town and gown together in building a virile a stable nation for upcoming generation.
Former Nigerian Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida advised members of the Association of Nigerian Campus Broadcast Stations (ANCABS) to continue to raise the bar in the dispensation of their duties as tutors and mentors of student journalists
The advice was given on Thursday when the association led by the representative of its President, Professor Ralph Akinfeleye, paid a courtesy visit to former Nigerian Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (rtd) at his hill-top residence, in minna, the Niger State capital.
He stressed that the campus broadcast stations are entrenched cultural values and rich with educative content putting in to  consideration the environment in which they belong.
While giving kudos to the association for its doggedness in leading a noble cause in the country, the former Nigerian leader urged the association to make use of the potentials at their disposal in developing the nation, Babangida also seized the platform to air his views on the emergence of the new media and how it engenders a free society.
Earlier, the president of the association, represented by the former station manager of UNILAG FM, Mrs Bisi-King Paul, thanked Babagida for his contribution to the growth of the media in Nigeria through the deregulation policy he introduced in 1992; a gesture which has led to the establishment of many media organizations in the country.
In his vote of thanks, the station manager of Search FM, Mr Kingsley Oguche, thanked the former military president for receiving the delegation and expressed his sincere gratitude on behalf of volunteers and the University community of F.U.T Minna to the Executive Director of El-Amin International Schools and Chief Executive Officer of El-Amin Foundation, Dr Mohammed Babangida for donating a befitting studio complex adjudged to be one of the best among campus radio stations in the country .
Present at the Hilltop residence of the former military president during the meeting, was the former governor of Niger State, Alhaji Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, popularly known as Talban Minna.
