Ibadan Poly NASU Honours Tegbe For Staff Welfare Contributions

    Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for Oyo South Senatorial District, Chief Joseph Tegbe, was, on Friday, honoured by the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) of The Polytechnic, Ibadan for his contributions to the advancement of the welfare of the institution’s staffers.

    The award was presented to Tegbe, who was the Special Guest of Honour at the grand finale of the 2022 NASU Week, by a member of the institution’s Governing Council, Prof. Gbadebo Odeyemi, on behalf of the union.

    Speaking at the ceremony, the NASU Chairman, Mr. Yomi Akande, said that the union decided to bestow the honour on Tegbe because of his sterling qualities and outstanding contributions to the polytechnic community.

    He described the PDP senatorial candidate as a true Omoluabi and politician with a difference, adding that he was worthy of being celebrated, not only by the union but by the entire polytechnic community.

    In his remarks, Tegbe congratulated the executives of the union on the success of the week.

    He stressed the need for key stakeholders in the education sector to come together to create a functional and mutually beneficial education ecosystem. He emphasized the need for the private sector to support the sector, particularly through the creation of endowment funds in all the tertiary institutions across the country.

    According to him, a well- motivated workforce is key to achieving academic excellence in the nation’s tertiary institutions.

    He pledged that if elected as senator in 2023, he would work towards sponsoring legislations that would further enhance the funding and general improvement of tertiary institutions across the country.
