A former member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Dapo Lam Adesina has revealed that in he invested his personal money into the construction of a football pitch at Okebadan area of Ibadan.
Hon. Dapo, who represented Ibadan South East/ North East between 2015 and 2019, stated this while speaking on Impact Business Radio, IBR FM, over the weekend monitored by OYOINSIGHT.COM.
According to him, the project was initially funded from his personal money when he was elected into office in 2015. He added that he set out to develop sports in the Ibadan North-East region of Oyo state.
When he lost the election to Hon. Abass Agboworin in 2019, he revealed that inserted the project in the budget before he handed it over to his successor. The completion of the project was priced at the sum of N20,000,000 and it was tagged a constituency project. He noted that this was done so that the project would be completed and not abandoned.
“The expanse of land was not even a field when we started constructing. Criminals were using that place as a hideout. They were attacking people there”, noted the former lawmaker.
He denied having any rift with his successor- Hon Agboworin saying “he defeated me in the last election. He is my brother and I want him to succeed.”
On the rumour that the football pitch caused ripples between them, he denied knowledge of such.
According to him “the Football pitch in question is located inside Oke’badan High School. I facilitated it with my personal money and paid for everything from my pocket. I even dug a borehole behind the pitch for those that will be using it. All of these were before the election. I included it in the 2019 budget and that was the last budget I participated in before I left the House. If Honourable Agboworin completes it, it his project not mine so, that should not be an issue at all”.
