Immediate past communications minister, Barrister Adebayo Shitu, has described the claim by Dauda Ajana, the youth leader of the All Progressives Congress in Oyo North senatorial district, as “simply stupid and baseless”.
Shittu, in a statement made available to OYOINSIGHT.COM on Monday evening, also described a claim by the youth leader that he does not belong to the party again as false.
He stated that he is still a member of the Unify forum faction of the party which was formed to liberate he and other aggrieved party members from the “oppression, marginalisation, dictatorship and undemocratic practices of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi who was leader of our Party in the State”.
OYOINSIGHT.COM recalls that Ajana had earlier stated that Shittu is an history in party because he stopped being a member of the party when the Unity forum faction he belongs to left the party in 2018.
In reaction, the two-time former commissioner wrote, “The suggestion by Dauda Ajana, a puppet of Ajmobi’s SENACO faction of Oyo APC is simply stupid, baseless and ought to be ignored by right thinking members of our party. What or who could have driven me out of APC,of which i am a foundation member.
“The truth is that I am not and would never belong to the SENACO Faction of our Party. Rather, i belong to the Unity forum faction of our Party; a faction which was foliberalo liberate ourselves from the oppression, marginalisation, dictatorship and undemocratic practices of former Governor Abiola Ajimobi who was leader of our Party in the State.
“If indeed, i had left APC, why would a delegation of Oyo APC Local Governments Chairmen’s Forum visit me in my Mokola, Ibadan Chambers to seek means of reconciliation of all the factions within Oyo APC, only a week ago. Of course, i gave them the pre-condition of return and consolidation of Justice and guaranteeing of sense of belonging if we of the Unity Forum are to forget the past.
“The general public is therefore urged to ignore the tantrums of Dauda Ajana, a jobless political hustler and his paymasters since he is completely inconsequential in the affairs and possible resolution of the crisis in Oyo APC.”
