Former governor of Oyo and Osi Olubadan of Ibadan, Chief Rashidi Ladoja and Iyalode, Alhaja Aminat Abiodun were absent at Monday’s meeting of the Olubadan, Oba Saliu Adetunji and his High Chiefs turned monarchs.

For 12 months, there was crisis between the monarch and the elevated High Chiefs over their coronation by Governor Abiola Ajimobi on August 27th, 2017.

While others were elevated and coronated, Ladoja rejected the offer. Iyalode Abiodun was said also set to be against it. Ladoja challenged the action  in court. The High Court ruled in his favour but the state government has since launched an appeal.

Only last week, OYO INSIGHT had reported how Ladoja initiated the peace move last week. Later, Oba Adetunji, Ladoja and Otun Olubadan, Oba Lekan Balogun, who was one of the elevated monarchs, met on 6th August, 2018.

The Olubadan-in-council meeting which holds twice a month, couldn’t hold since last year when the crisis started.

Olubadan had kicked against the Chieftaincy Declaration review that led to the coronation of the new obas.

At Monday’s meeting, Oba Adetunji was said to have stayed indoor for close to two hours, before attending to the elevated High Chiefs, who had around about 12noon.

Sources said Oba Adetunji insisted that the meeting would not go on without Ladoja and Iyalode in attendance.

When asked to start the meeting, the monarch was said to have told the elevated monarch that it was “Olubadan-in-council meeting and not Oba-in-council meeting.”

But it was, however, learnt that Ladoja had already intimated the Olubadan that he would be unavoidably absent.
