The Seyi Makinde Movement for Good governance, SMMFG, has congratulated the governor on the successful completion of his six (6) months of handling the affairs of Oyo State.
SMMFG, speaking through its Spokesperson, Comrade Samson Atilola in Ibadan, said that Oyo State is blessed and fortunate to have a man in the class of Engineer Seyi Makinde as the governor of the pace setter state. His dexterity, brilliance, intelligence and understanding of very critical issues that relates to governance are unprecedented and absolutely amazing!
The “Omi Titun (Fresh Waters)” is ceaselessly flowing all over the thirty three (33) local governments of Oyo State and the citizens are glad, happy, joyous and contented with the government of the people.
The citizens of Oyo state made a choice on the 9th of March 2019 and decided to send Engineer Seyi Makinde to go and represent them; He has done the representaion perfectly in just six months
Engineer Seyi Makinde promised during his pre-election campaign was that Oyo State under him will be better, stronger, viable and promising.
He assured that his government will be tough in ensuring that there is
(i) Security of lives and properties,
(ii) Affordable, available and accesible healthcare system,
(iii) A stable but consistently growing economy that is not presmised on domestic or international debt
(iv) Massive investment and special interest in Basic Education and
(v) Agricultural Revolution,
(vi) Targeted and strategic Infrastructures
Looking back at the actions of the Governor in the past six (6) months, we can say with all confidence that the governor has excelled as he has stayed true to his campaign promises.
The actions of the governor have given us hope that the future is bright and we can once again point to Oyo State as our pacesetting Heritage.
Let us look briefly into what the governor has achieved in the last six (6) months.
Security – The interest of Engineer Seyi Makinde in securing the lives of Oyo State indigenes and residents is one of a kind and should be copied by most states of Nigeria if not all.
Few days after His Swearing in, He proscribed the activities of a group that could pose to be a threat to the tranquility of the State. He has skillfully returned peace into our motor garages, junctions and bus stops.
He appointed a time proven, globally recognised, nationally celebrated former commisioner of Police for Lagos and Benue State, Mr. Fatai Owoseni as his Special Adviser on Security Matters,
Engineer Seyi Makinde has met with the commandant of Operation Burst, (a State Owned Local Crime combatting outfit with security officers drawn from all over the relevant and constitutionally backed up security agencies) to ensure that local crimes are reduced to the bearest minimum in every area of the State.
Engineer Seyi Makinde went ahead to approve the purchase of 100 Cars for security agencies and these cars are fitted with the latest, modern and relevant security gadgets that will make the security of lives and prpoerties very effective.
The special vehicles were delivered by a popular brand and they have been handed over to appropriate authorities. You can see the vehicles almost everywhere in Oyo State.
He has ignited, promoted and encouraged a working synergy among all security forces in the State.
Affordable, Available and Accesible Healthcare System – Governor Seyi Makinde has shown in no small measure that He is not only sympathetic, He is also empathetic.
In just six months of governing, He has transformed the state owned Adeoyo Hospital, Yemetu and New Adeoyo Hospital Ring Road.
His administration has procured, installed and commisioned for usage modern medical facilities that will make these state owned medical centres the cynosure of all eyes, the bride of all medical doctors and a “Mecca” for those seeking good medical attention.
His investment in primary healthcare too is unbelievable! Oranyan primary healthcare centre and other primary healthcare centres have received the flowing of our fresh waters.
Engineer Seyi Makinde has also approved and announced the recruitment of professionals and relevant staffs into the state hospital management board in other to ensure that there is enough relevant staff strength in all our state owned medical centres.
The selection will be by merit and unlike before, the process is transparent, open and can be tracked.
A Stable but consistently growing Economy – Our Governor is completely committed to ensuring that Oyo State is out of the current financial quagmire that we are plunged into by the inglorious misappropriation, financial recklessness, lacklaustre financial culture, needless borrowing and gross economical indiscipline of the past administration.
The governor introduced and brought financial discipline, created an anti – corruption agency, brought financial experts to manage, control and bring balance to our financial system.
The internally generated revenue is stable and it is gradually growing and very soon, Federal allocation won’t be our only source of income.
Governor Seyi Makinde who is fondly called GSM is very committed to building a financially strong state and this is to the joy of many citizens.
Free and accesible basic quality education: Governor Seyi Makinde did not only cancel the exorbitant, humongous, depressing and very unncessary fees imposed by the past administration on public school pupils and students, He also made access to basic education in Oyo State completely free and also gave out to pupils and students free textbooks, notebooks and also started a free after school hours lesson for students preparing for external exams.
Public school teachers are now encouraged, motivated and inspired to teach the students more.
The rate at which parents and guardians take theirs children to government owned school is alarming! Thankfully, Oyo state government through the ministry of education is prepared and ready for the task ahead.
Targeted Infrastructural Development: During the campaigns, GSM promised the people of Oyo state targeted infrastructures. In other words, every infrastructure will be targeted towards the development of the economy.
The recent review and re- awarding of various road projects is a testament to the fact GSM means business and the business is unusual.
By December next year, Moniya-Iseyin road will be motorable, massive street light up projects are ongoing in Ibadan and different other development contracts that is targeted towards our economical growth.
Agricultural Revolution: Oyo state farmers are full of thanks and gratitude to the Engineer Seyi Makinde for being the farmer friendly governor, He has shown it many times He is resolutely committed in developing Agriculture in the State.
Apart from the fact He appointed one of Africa’s finest Agricultural expert, Dr. Debo Akande as his(GSM) adviser on Agribusiness, He has reached a partnership agreement with an international agricultural firm known as Farmcrowdy to bring a scheme that will empower Oyo State Farmers.
Just recently, He approved billions of naira for the buillding and development of farm settlements in some strategic parts of the state.
The farmers in Oke Ogun Zone of Oyo state which is the agricultural hub of the state are full of thanks and gratitude to the governor for awarding the road contract that will link them up with other parts of the state so as to sell their farm produce.
These are but a few of what Goveror Seyi Makinde has done in just six (6) months. We cannot adequately mention the impact of GSM in our dear state, the impact that has made him the bride of other states.
Many States now wish Governor Seyi Makinde is their governor, many states are jealous of Oyo State and we are proud to be identified with such an enigma, a character like GSM!
The GSM effect can be literally felt, touched and handled in Oyo State.
The drastic positive change in the fortunes of Oyo state is due to the fact that Governor Seyi Makinde came ready, prepared and loaded.
He has built his capacity for such a time like this and He is not relenting on his governance wth human face!
Gsm has become a reputable poster boy for his party and the go-to-guy for all issues that pertains to good governance and that is whom we have as the governor of our dear State.
Oyo State is on a pedestal and trajectory of unprecedented greatness and we know that with GSM a better Oyo state is assured.
I enjoin the good people of Oyo state to look beyond detractors, disturbers, noisemakers, propagandist, faceless politicians and belly fighters and join hands to support the man that has been descrbed as the symbol of good governance in Nigeria beyond 2023!
I once again wish Governor Seyi Makinde well and I pray that as He has started well, He will also end well.
