The Oyo Kajola Group, a socio-political group working for the election of Mr Seyi Makinde as governor of Oyo State, on Monday, hailed the Oyo State electorate for defying all threats and odds to elect Makinde, the governorship standard-bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in last Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
This was just as the group congratulated Makinde and all other participants in the coalition, including Senator Rashidi Ladoja, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Chief Sharafadeen Alli and Mr Bolaji Ayorinde, among others, on Makinde’s victory in the election.
The group assured the voters of Makinde’s commitment to fulfilling his electioneering promises, noting that the governor-elect would focus on programmes that would uplift the people and justify their confidence in him.
The group, in a statement signed by its media coordinator, Taiwo Ogunlade, maintained that the Oyo State voters, by voting Makinde, resisted external influence in their affairs and demonstrated the power of the people in choosing their leaders.
Decrying the violence that followed the election, the Oyo Kajola Group admonished those who lost in the election to “accept defeat in good faith and offer words of reassurance and peace to their followers, with a view to ensuring that the peace of the state is not threatened.”
