“Olopoenia is an unrepentant mole and a serial betrayer who has never been consistent with the ideals and dictates of the party, PDP. His anti party tendencies started in 2015 during the build up to the general elections when he collected huge amount of money from both Sen. Rasheed Ladoja and Otunba Adebayo Alao Akala who were gubernatorial candidates of Accord Party and Labour Party respectively. Also, in 2019, his trade in stock continued with his open declaration of support for the senatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party, ADP, Dr. Fola Akinosun against the candidate of his party, PDP, Dr. Muhammed Kola Balogun who eventually won the contest “. The statement added.

The group expressed concern that Alhaji Olopoenia who is a chieftain of the party in his LG, if given any position of authority would jeopardise the interest of the party and betray its members who are working day and night for the success of the party.

“One wonders that Olopoenia would change his inconsistent style of politics after his adopted candidate in the Oyo South Senatorial district lost woefully in the 2019 general elections but the trend continues. He has established relationship with many chieftains of the opposition party. One of the benefits of the relationship is the massive renovation of his residence at Idi Ape by a chieftain of the APC and gubernatorial candidate of the party in the 2019 general elections, Chief Bayo Adelabu”.

The group expressed support for His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde and advised him to curtail the excesses of Olopoenia in order to prevent him from polarizing the party structure in Ibadan North East LG.
