The governor-elect in Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde has been congratulated by an Abuja based Estate Developer, Arc Hassan Giwa for his victory at March 9 governorship election.
Makinde polled 515,621 votes to defeat Adebayo Adelabu of APC who scored 357,982 votes, according to official result declared by Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
Arc Giwa, in a press statement signed and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Monday, March 11, 2019, said that Makinde’s victory after a hard fought campaign is a testimony that the people of Oyo State value his philanthropic gesture and appreciate the efforts he has made towards development of the people and state in general.
The Ibadan born business man also appreciated everyone that worked tirelessly for Makinde’s success at the poll, saying that judging by the landslide victory recorded at the election, there was no doubt that the election broadly reflected the choice of the good people of Oyo State who demonstrated that they cherished and value him.
Arc Giwa, while commending the people of Oyo State for the very peaceful manner in which they conducted themselves before, during and after the election, described Seyi Makinde’s victory as a well-deserved one.
The Ibadan Born businessman however, applauded the candidate of All Progressive Congress, APC, Adebayo Adelabu, for putting up a good fight, saying that as a people we shall continue to consolidate on the gains we have made over the years of democracy in the country as we break new progressive frontier.
Otunba Giwa called on other contestants in the election to see the victory of Seyi Makinde as the wish of God and implored them to work together with him to make the state an economically prosperous for all and sundry.
He praised President Muhammadu Buhari for ensuring a peaceful general election. “Ensuring a peaceful, free and fair election is a testament to the fact that President Muhammadu Buhari is a man of his words.
“The voice of the people spoke loudly and it has resonated for all to hear. This is the singular most prominence feature of democracy,” said Hassan Giwa.
