According to Akinajo, who is also an Ibadan Mogaji, Oyo State government has intervened, as it had deployed security personnel to various junctions in the affected areas.

Akinajo who disclosed this while speaking on telephone with OYOINSIGHT.COM and other media platforms, on the unrest in his constituency, said effort had been made from his office to ensure peace return to the crime-proned areas.

“Though I am out of Ibadan presently but I am making contacts as soon as I got a situation update from home.”

The lawmaker expressed sadness over the level of crime coming from his constituency, attributing such development to youth unemployment in the country coupled with youthful exuberance.

“It is a pity that my people are experiencing disorderliness presently, but to be sincere, joblessness is what is causing all these issues, most of the youths causing this havoc are jobless which turned them to smokers and touts fomenting troubles here and there.

“What is happening now can be attributed t the inability of the past governments to engage our youths in decent employment opportunities. Governor Seyi Makinde inherited this mess, but there is no excuse; it is now our duty to clear the mess and our government is not relenting in its efforts,” he added

He explained that the present administration in the state is working tirelessly to ensure youth across the state are meaningfully engaged to avoid recurrence of crimes perpetrated by youths.

Akinajo said he has been engaging some of the youths in his constituency, playing a central role in addressing issues that is affecting them by proferring some solutions in his own little way.

Akinajo also expressed displeasure over unethical reportage of the crises by some media houses, saying the media blew the matter out of proportion.

He disputed the number of houses burnt, saying only one house and two shops were burnt during the Thursday incident, against the 200 house being circulated.

He appealed to members of the public to cooperate with security agencies and government to nip crime in the bud.

The lawmaker also implored all Ibadan North East stakeholders, Mogajis, elected and appointed officers to attend today’s (Monday) local stakeholder’s security meeting, which will hold at the local government secretariat.
