A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, in Oyo State, Dr Yunus Akintunde, has expressed sadness over yesterday’s demolition of the popular Music House, Ibadan, owned by popular gospel musician, Yinka Ayefele by men of the Oyo State Government.
Akintunde said the demolition will send wrong signals to potential investors.
In statement in Ibadan, the Oyo Stats capital, Akintunde wondered what could have made the government demolish the structure 24 hours to the beginning of court hearing and especially on. Sunday.
“I have known the owner of the building for many years. As an entrepreneur, I know what it takes to set up a thing of that magnitude. He is somebody I admire so much because of the fact that he didn’t allow the life-threatening accident to weigh him down. Apart from that, all of us are always happy to see that one of the best radio stations in the country is in our state.
“What should the future of the over 150 staffers of the company whose lives are dependent on the existence of the radio station be? This is coming at a time that youth unemployment is biting harder. It is just indefensible, no matter what. The state government should have, at least, waited for the court action.”
While urging for calm, Akintunde said he has directed his supporters across the state to, as a mark of solidarity, use Dr Yink Ayefele’s picture as their profile picture on the social media.
