Free Medical Outreach: Oyo Lawmaker’s Foundation Partners Nigerian Army, Health Ministry, Others

    No fewer than 2000 residents of Ibadan Northeast local government area of Oyo State, on Saturday, benefited from a free medical outreach organized by Akinajo Foundation, supported by 2 Division of the Nigerian Army, Odogbo, Oyo Ministry of Health, Oyo state Hospital Management Board, Zerald Petroleum Limited, Bloomz integrated services, a bus including Swipha, a Pharmaceutical Company.

    Flagging off the event which was held at Ile Akinjide, along Orita Aperin Road, and Olubadan High School, Orita Aperin, Ibadan simultaneously the coordinator of Akinajo foundation, Miss. Favour Taiwo, said the outreach is aimed at improving the health of the people, as well as fostering better relationships between the military and civilians in the community.

    Favor noted that many beneficiaries lacked knowledge of the basic health precautions to be taken, ‘and that is why Akinajo Foundation with the support of the Oyo state Ministry of Health, the Nigerian Army, and others decided to hold the outreach.

    She added: “This medical outreach is to help people know the basic health precaution to take. Knowing the little details about our health status will keep us healthy. Everyone should be familiar with their blood pressure, sugar level, and others.

    “We are to reach out to about a thousand beneficiaries. We have drugs here which we have provided to cover as many as they are here to benefit out of the free medical outreach,” he said.

    Beneficiaries enjoyed free check-ups, medicines, malaria tests free voluntary HIV/AIDS counseling/testing, and blood sugar checks.

    A beneficiary, Mrs. Ramota Adio, hailed the initiative, saying: “When I was told by our Landlord about a free check-up, I was so happy because I have been trying to go and do this check-up and the bill they gave me was too high. I was unable to do it because of a lack of funds.

    Another beneficiary, Alhaji, Adeoti Wahab, said he heard about the outreach from his political party chairman when he visited him and decided to use the opportunity to know the status of his health and thereafter thanked the organizers of the outreach.

    Favor also on behalf of the partner appreciated the Governor of Oyo State Engr. Seyi Makinde for his continuous support of the health sector in the state.
