• NUJ, RATTAWU Set For Showdown, Block Entrances
Less than 48 hours after describing OYOINSIGHT.COM’s story on the planned demolition of staff quarters of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS, as a wicked rumour, the state government has moved another bulldozer and an excavator to the premises of the agency.
To forestall the demolition, members of the BCOS chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ and Radio and Television Theatre Arts Union, RATTAWU, have locked the entrance gate to the agency, preventing vehicular movement.
Top staffers of the agency, who on Tuesday morning sent a save our soul messages to OYOINSIGHT.COM, said the action of the Seyi Makinde administration is anti-workers and a misplacement of priority.
Policemen are currently stationed at the entrance of the station, possibly to forestall breakdown of law and order.
