For supporting the presidential bid of Bola Tinubu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, in this months’ election, the body of Ibadan Mogaji said it has endorsed ‘Seyi Makinde’s re-election for second term.

Abass Oloko, a prominent Ibadan Mogaji, who briefed OYOINSIGHT.COM said that among many other reasons, he and his colleagues are supporting the governor for another term because he has shown rare courage in his support for southern agenda.

Addressing journalists, the Mogajis made it known that they have weighed the administration of Gov. Seyi Makinde and concluded that he has done superbly well and in respect to his performance, he has been adopted by the Ibadan Mogaji to govern Oyo State for another four years.
They maintained that their decision is a unanimous decision which was made by all Ibadan people and not just their own.

While speaking on behalf of his colleagues, Coordinator, Ibadan Mogajis, Abduljeleel Adekunle Kareem who is also the Mogaji Adanla said “What we are saying as we did in 2019 is that people if Ibadan should go out and cast their vote for Engr. Seyi Makinde so that he can complete the projects that are half ways.

“Of course, we are Ibadan, who can say we are not Ibadan. This position is the position of the generality of Ibadan people because before you emerge a Mogaji we have internal democracy that can be likened to the primary election conducted before any main election within the party. That’s how we become Mogajis, so nobody here was born a Mogaji. So we are speaking for our people, what we are saying is Ibadan for Seyi Makinde again”.

The Mogajis further urged the other candidates who are of Ibadan descent to be patient as their own time will come too. They assert that Gov. Makinde also had to wait for his time before he became the governor and since he became the governor, he has been doing so well. This is the reason he was considered for endorsement the second time by the body of Ibadan Mogajis.

“My message for the other contestants who are also of Ibadan descent is that they should be patient just as Seyi Makinde was patient during the tenure of late former governor Abiola Ajimobi. He did a second term and did well. Engr Seyi Makinde is here and doing better. So they could do best but not the time yet.

They also urged the people of Oyo State in general to remain calm in this trying times.

“For our people, all we want to say to them is that the should remain calm. We know it is tensed, we all are affected but we should remain calm.

While speaking on what motivated the endorsement of the governor, the Mogaji said “we are men of ourselves, so I don’t know the amount of inducement that can make us do this. All we are saying is one good turn deserves another.

“We’ve sat down and critically analyze his government and we decide that we should give Seyi Makinde a second chance so he will complete the project that yet to be completed.

“Nobody induced anything and we ain’t saying others are not capable as well but we are saying that they should wait for their turn, they should let Seyi Makinde complete what he has started then it can shift to them also.

“Truly we are traditional leaders but as we all know, politics is part of us as humans. Whether we like it or not, politics affect everyone one way or the other and we all participate in politics just in different ways.

They therefore urged all candidates to accept with good fate whatever the result of the election may be and also advise parent to warn their children to shun violence before, during and after the election.

“We will urge candidates to accept with good fate whoever is elected by the people and that they should shun violence and whatever can upturn the peace of the state. We would also like to advise parents to warn their wards over this election.

“There’s no gain in violence and chaos. We al should go to the polling unit, cast our votes and go back to our houses while expecting the results, the Mogajis said.
