As Ramadan reaches day four, the lawmaker representing Oyo Central senatorial district in the Nigerian senate, Sen. Teslim, on Monday started the distribution of bags of rice to Muslims.
Apart from the 11 local government areas in Oyo Central, Folarin said the distribution will also be done across the 9 local government in Oyo South senatorial district.
Folarin, it would be recalled, is a Mogaji in Oja’gbo area of Ibadan North East local government and the Ayingun Olubadan of Ibadan.
Only recently, Folarin distributed over a thousand bags of rice and other food items, in two batches, as COVID-19 palliatives to his constituents.
Speaking briefly with newsmen on the phone, Folarin explained that “it is more important to assist our people more than before as the coronavirus pandemic has not only affected our people economically, some of them are financially down. The money they used in trading had already been spent to take care of the home. We can only pray that this pandemic leaves us soon.
“I know for a fact that it will take time to overcome the economic and financial hardship coronavirus has foisted on us, but we must always look for ways to support our people. We will continue to do this,” he added.
