• Relieves Registrar Of Appointment, Suspends Academic Staff Union Chair, Chief Internal Auditor
Aftermath our publication yesterday of the suspension of Students’ Union Officials by the authorities of the Oyo State College of Education, Lanlate, over violent students’ protests of Friday, 6 November and Monday, 9 November, 2020, OYOINSIGHT.COM can authoritatively report that part of the submissions of the Investigative Panel, which was approved by the College’s Governing Council, was the exoneration of the Provost, Dr. J. O. Adeagbo and the Bursar, Mr. F. S. Wahab, of all charges levelled against them.
Dean Students Affairs (DSA), Mr. S. A. Akinteye, was also cleared of all accusations of sexual harassment, and was consequently asked to return to his duty post.
However, the Provost was instructed to complete his accumulated annual leave for a number of years, which this newspaper can confirm he has since commenced.
The College Registrar, Mr. R. O. Opadeji, was relieved of his appointment for not performing the duties for which he was appointed, for displaying a laissez faire attitude, which was one of the major causative of the College’s poor state, and for not delivering on his mandate as the College’s Chief Administrative Officer. He has since handed over to the next most senior in rank.
The Chairman, College of Education Academic Staff Union (COEASU), Mr. S. K. Kolawole was suspended for a period of six months on half pay, for “making inciting statements during a meeting with students on Thursday, 5 November, 2020, wherein his speech was said to have provoked students staging the protest on Friday, 6 November, 2020, instead of Monday, 9 November, 2020, earlier stated for it.”
Also, “that the resultant riot turned violent, in which public and private properties estimated to millions of naira were destroyed and the image of the College brought into disrepute.”
The Chief Internal Auditor, Mr. B. A. Adeyemi, was suspended for “not performing his statutory functions, divided loyalty, and other sundry charges”.
It is to be recalled that students of the institution had embarked on protests on Friday, 6 November, 2020 and Monday, 9 November, 2020, wherein private and public properties were destroyed.
