OYOINSIGHT.COM can report that ‘Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, is in talk with the leadership of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, for a possible move.

This became imperative following the crisis that has engulfed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Sources close to the ADC told OYOINSIGHT.COM that Governor Makinde is already one leg in the party.

“He’s already one leg in the ADC and when PDP eventually collapses, he will decamp. It’s just a matter of time,” said the source who did not want names mentioned.

When asked if Osun state governor, Demola Adeleke, who is seeking re-election will decamp to ADC as well, our source said the governor is somewhat confused as a former governor and senator is convincing him that all issues in PDP will be resolved.

“Left to Governor Adeleke, he would leave PDP today. But a former governor and close ally of the Adeleke family has been assuring Adeleke that the issues in PDP will be resolved.”

“Should Seyi Makinde decamp today, Governor Adeleke will leave PDP the next day. You know former governor Rauf Aregbesola loves him. He has completed Aregbesola’s projects abandoned by his successor, Gboyega Oyetola. Paid outstanding salaries, there is a soft spot for him in Osun ADC already, the source added.

The source explained further that Makinde has seen that his former ally in the G-5, former governor Nyesom Wike who is now FCT minister is out to cripple him and others. “He knows the PDP leadership will be contentious and litigious after the convention. That means a lot to him. Anyone who flies the party’s flag in various contest may have issues. So he has decided not to put all his eggs in one basket.”

Speaking with some promoters of the ADC in the state, they said they are not aware of such move and that if such happens, Makinde wouldn’t be allowed to destroy the party the way he and Wike have done to the PDP.

OYOINSIGHT.COM understands that bid by the PDP to elect new leaders has become a source of concern not only for the members of the party but keen political watchers.

Ahead of next week’s convention in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Justice James Omotosho of the federal high court, while delivering judgment in suit number FHC/ABJ/CS/2120/2025, had ordered that the exercise be halted until the party complies with its constitution, the Nigerian Constitution, and the Electoral Act.

Three aggrieved members of the party — Austin Nwachukwu (Imo PDP chairman), Amah Abraham Nnanna (Abia PDP chairman) and Turnah Alabh George (PDP Secretary, South-South), had taken the party to court.

Justice Omotosho directed the PDP “to go back and put its house in order, and to give the statutory 21-day notice to INEC before it can proceed with the proposed convention.”

He also restrained INEC from accepting or recognising the outcome of any national convention that is not conducted in accordance with due process, the law, and INEC’s own regulations.

But yesterday, an Oyo State high court made an order contradicting last Friday’s judgment of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which restrained the PDP from holding the convention.

Justice Ladiran Akintola, while granting the ex parte motion filed on Monday by Folahan Adelabi in suit number I/1336/2025, adjourned the case to November 10, 2025 for hearing of the motion on notice.
