OYOINSIGHT.COM can exclusively report that four of the All Progressives Congress, APC, aspirants jostling to fill the vacant Ibadan North federal constituency seat caused by the death of Musiliudeen Olaide Akinremi have stepped down their ambition.

This was just as this newspaper understands 10 aspirants have purchased nomination forms to contest the party’s primaries.

Jagaban, as Akinremi who was in the first year of his second consecutive term in the green chambers was known, had died last year’s July.

While it was gathered that the quartet of AbdulGaneey AbdulRasaq, Ademola Alalade, Taofik Aderogba and Wasiu Emiola communicated their voluntary withdrawal from the race to the party, OYOINSIGHT.COM’s check was unable to confirm whether or not Monsuru Akintunde Adeyemo, Bayo Adegoke, Wale Akinremi, Kamil Omotosho and Lanre Ayinla bought form or announced their stepping down.

Those who purchased forms include Umar Arisekola, Segun Olaleye, Sahid Aderounmu, Idris Lapade, Balikis Junaid, Wale Olatunji, Yinka Omikunle, Olaitan Victor, Khalil Mustapha and Adekunle Oladeji.

Few days ago, the state executive of the party together with the aspirants were hosted by the national secretary of APC, Ajibola Basiru in Abuja. Though details of the meeting were still sketchy as at press time, it was learnt that it was in a bid to have a rancour-free process and go on to retain the seat.

It was also learnt that the party hasn’t communicated the mode of primaries to party members.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, had last week selected a former assembly member and deputy chief of staff to Governor Seyi Makinde, Fola Oyekunle as its flagbearer in the August 16, 2025 election.
