In what is believed to be disobedience to law, 13 local government and local council development areas, LCDAs, chairmen, suspended by Oyo State House of Assembly, are back to their duty posts.

Two of the affected chairmen, Seun Olunloyo and Ibrahim Akintayo of Soro LCDA and Ibadan North East LG were sighted in their respective offices on Wednesday morning despite their ongoing suspension.

The Assembly, this newspaper understands, had suspended the council bosses for failing to submit a report on the status of earth moving equipment in the councils.

However, OYOINSIGHT.COM gathered that the request for the equipment was made in a circular to all council bosses signed by the Director of Local Government Administration at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Matters, Mr. O. O. Akinlade on the 18th of May, 2020.

The circular read in parts: “I am directed to refer to the above subject and inform you that His Excellency, Seyi Makinde has approved the use of earth moving equipment of all LGAs and LCDAs for the execution of important and immediate projects throughout the state.

“You are therefore requested to forward the list of functioning earth moving equipment of your LGA/LCDA to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, as a matter of urgency, please.”

However, in two different letters sighted by OYOINSIGHT.COM, four of the 13 suspended council bosses have come to show that they submitted the list of equipment in their councils.

These four councils are Oyo East LG, Oyo South East, Ogbomosho Central and Lagelu West LCDAs.

In the letters sighted by OYOINSIGHT.COM, the chairman of Ogbomosho Central, Hon. Adeyinka ‘Remi wrote that the council has a CAT motor grader and a bore hole drilling machine while his Lagelu West counterpart wrote that the only equipment owned by the council is a Changlin Grader.

Sources told OYOINSIGHT.COM that the chairmen of Oyo East and Oyo South East LCDA submitted their lists to the clerk of the Assembly
