It is with pride and great excitement that TNM Media Academy, located beside Everyday Kitchen, Eleyele, Ibadan, announces its formal upgrade to full National Diploma (ND) awarding status by the National Board for Technical Education (NBTE) as part of the sweeping reforms in Nigeria’s Technical and Vocational Education & Training (TVET) sector.
Following the recent measure by the Federal Ministry of Education which discontinued the National Innovation Diploma (NID) programme, upgraded 46 Innovation Enterprise Institutions (IEIs) to ND-awarding status and revoked 136 licences, TNM Media Academy is honoured to be among the elite 46 institutions qualified for this transformation. The institution emerged as the fourth nationwide in this national list, and among only three institutions in Ibadan to scale through the recent screening exercise administered by the Federal Ministry of Education.
Having commenced operations as an innovation enterprise institution focused on broadcasting and allied media skills, TNM Media Academy has now gained full authorization to run Mass Communication at the National Diploma (ND) level — along with other programmes typically offered in polytechnics — in line with NBTE approval. This upgrade signals a major leap forward for TNM Media Academy in upholding quality media and communication education in Nigeria, especially in the South-West region.
By virtue of this upgrade, students enrolling for the ND in Broadcast Journalism and Mass Communication at TNM Media Academy will receive a nationally recognised diploma, fully aligned with the regulatory standards of NBTE. The Academy is now licensed to develop and run additional ND-level programmes across the curriculum range expected of polytechnic-level institutions. TNM Media Academy marks itself as a premier destination for both aspiring journalists, broadcasters and communication professionals seeking solid credentials and industry-relevant practical training.
The NBTE reforms — disbanding the NID programme and elevating selected institutions — are designed to strengthen and harmonise Nigeria’s technical education system. As the fourth institution on the national list and first in Oyo State, TNM Media Academy stands out for its commitment to media excellence and innovation training in broadcasting and allied fields. This upgrade positions students for enhanced career prospects, stronger industry linkages, and recognised academic credentials under ND accreditation. The landmark status elevates Ibadan’s role in media education and underscores TNM’s leadership in media and communication skills training.
Admissions into the newly accredited ND Mass Communication / Broadcast Journalism programmes are now open. Apply with minimum of 100 score in 2025 UTME and 5 O’Level Credits.”
Stakeholders and industry partners are invited to engage with TNM Media Academy’s enhanced curriculum offering and collaborate in shaping Nigeria’s next generation of media professionals.
Mr. Abdulrasaq Abdulrazaq, Provost of TNM Media Academy, remarked said, “This accreditation is a landmark moment for our institution, for Ibadan and for the media industry in Nigeria. We embrace the NBTE’s reforms, we welcome our new status and we pledge to deliver the highest standard of ND-level education, practical training, and industry readiness to our students.”
