Former secretary to the state government and governorship candidate of the Zenith Labour Party, Barr Sharafadeen Alli, was Absent as Governor Seyi Makinde inaugurated chairman and members of the Governor’s Advisory Council, GAC.

The government of Oyo had established as part of its efforts aimed at enhancing effective governance in the state.

 

Though the reason for Alli’s absence is yet to be known as at press time, OYO INSIGHT learnt that the pioneer chairman of Ibadan North local government was not happy with the appointment.
Makinde had named former Deputy Chief Whip in the Senate, Senator Hosea Ayoola Agboola as Chairman of the Committee, while other members include, the former Majority Leader of the House of Representatives,  Rt. Hon. Mulika Akande Adeola; Chief Jacob Adetoro and Barr. Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli.
Others members include Chief  Bolaji Ayorinde (SAN); Mr. Joseph Olaitan, Mni; Hon. Kamil Akinlabi;  Senator  Monsura Sunmonu; Chief Gboyega Laoye and Prof. Kolapo Hamzat.
The government had said that the measure was also aimed at ensuring that the government taps from the wealth of experience of elders and opinion moulders in the state.
According to the statement, the main objective of the Council is to advise government from time to time on policy implementation.
The statement read: “The Council is to advise the Executive Governor and his cabinet from time to time on the implementation of developmental programmes and policies of the present administration.”
