A member of the sixth National Assembly, Senator Gbenga Babalola, has denied being a party to any reconciliation move by the All Progressives Congress, APC, in Oyo State, declaring that he is a bonafide member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in the state.
Babalola, OYOINSIGHT.COM recalled, had joined APC few hours to the governorship election in the state. Before then, he was a governorship aspirant on the platform of the African Democratic Congress, ADC In 2019.
The Iseyin-born politician was PDP senator between 2007 and 2011.
In a statement made available to Saturday Tribune on Friday, Babalola described the claim by a faction of the opposition party in a media report that he was involved in a meeting convened to reconcile aggrieved members of the party as “a blatant lie.”
He said: “It is imperative for me to draw the attention of the public to the fake news as I was not part of their so-called reconciliation move.
“The opposition should desist from dropping my name in both electronic and print media to market their unwanted product. I have never attended or sent any representatives to any meetings organised by them.”
