A former attorney and commissioner for justice during the administration of former governor Abiola Ajimobi, Barr. Mutalubi Ojo, has alleged threat to his life.
Ojo, who spoke in a chat with OYOINSIGHT.COM early today morning, pointed accusing finger at the direction of one Prince Akinbiyi, who is said to be one of the sons of late Dr. D.T Akinbiyi, who was Olubadan of Ibadanland.
According to Ojo, “Akinbiyi and his cohorts attacked me at the corridor of the Oyo State high court, Ring Road, Ibadan, yesterday.
“He and his friends who are all members of APC attempted to beat him up and also threatened to sniff life out of me soonest.
“Their grievance was that I should not greet Chief Adeniyi Akintola (SAN),” he added, explaining that the senior advocate had to beg them to sheath their swords.
Ojo said that “I don’t even know him and his cohorts until Hon. Omiyale the elected Chairman of Ibadan South-East disclosed his identity to me. I will report him to the security agencies and take appropriate actions. But his actions might not be unconnected with an age-long family feud between his late father, Oba Akinbiyi and my grandmother over a parcel of land at Oke Labo, Ibadan. But that was in the early 1970s when the late monarch trespassed on my Granny’s land and she sued him to court and got judgement. My granny got the land back and later built a property in it which she gave me as a gift. What could have been his problems. I honestly believe that he was just using Chief Akintola’s case as a cover up. Be rest assured that I will take up the assault and threat to my life legally.”
Efforts by OYOINSIGHT.COM to reach Prince Akinbiyi, who was said to be in the Lottery and Pool Betting Board under Ajimobi between 2011 to 2015 and presently the Chairman of APC in Ward 6 of the Ibadan South-East Local Government, proved abortive as at the time of filing this report.
