A former chairman of the Association of Local Government of Nigeria, ALGON, Oyo state, Hon Yekeen Popoola, has commended all the members of All Progressives Congress,APC, who worked tirelessly to ensure that peace finally returned to the party.

Popoola, who was one of those who attended the recent stakeholders’ meeting in Ibadan, believes that the sacrifice being made by the anchors of the meeting can be best described as what happened during the age of renaissance.

According to him, “it’s commendable when you see politicians pushing their grievances, personal interests and ambitions aside for a collective purpose despite the setbacks caused to individuals by the crisis, someone must appreciate it and I think our members deserve commendations.

“It makes me to remember the age of renaissance that ushered in light and pushed aside the dark age, because the gathering to me has actually put aside all those things that caused crisis in the party aside and then bring forth the reasons to work and live in peace together again, I am really impressed,” Popoola said.

He continued that the meeting was a phenomenon in the history Oyo state politics. “This is because when you imagine how progressive fold, I mean, a once very strong and united family just scattered due to interests but suddenly realized the more danger ahead if nothing is done to stop the further division, and a process to get together and think collectively was agreed by everyone at once with one mind, I am of the belief that our fold is full of great men and women.

“At the stakeholders’ meeting which held inside Premier Hotel, I was amazed with the ways every member talked and it is crystal clear that we are more concerned with peace and unity in the progressive family.”
