The Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oloye Lekan Alabi has presented bottles of Schnapp to notify the Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Saliu Akanmu Adetunji of the death of the Parokayi of Ibadan land, Chief Bode Akindele.
OYOINSIGHT.COM reported that Bode Akindele, the Chairman of Modandola group, died on the 29th of June at his Lagos home.
The foremost industrialist was aged 87.
A statement by Oloye Lekan Alabi to explain the rationale behind the presentation of bottles of schnapps to notify the king of Bode Akindele read: “When an Ibadan chief/community leader dies,his/her family must formally inform Kabiyesi Olubadan of Ibadanland,of his/her demise.
“Part of the processes include a formal notification(letter)informing Kabiyesi Olubadan of the name,age,ancestry,title held by the deceased,date and place of passage and presentation of two(2)bottles of Schnapp drink to Kabiyesi.
“Quite expectedly, Kabiyesi Olubadan will pray for the repose of the soul of the deceased and comfort of his/her family.”
Based on this, on Saturday, 10th of July, Oloye ‘Lekan Alabi, who is the Chairman of the Sir Bode Akindele Burial Planning Committee, on behalf of the Akindele Chieftaincy Family of Ile Olobi,Oja ‘Ba,Ibadan,Oyo State of Nigeria,formally announced the passage of Head of Trade and Commerce of Ibadanland, to the Olubadan at his Palace in Popo Area of Ibadan.
The King then prayed for the repose of the soul of Chief Bode,who was also the Baba Ijo of Methodist Church, Agbeni, Ibadan.
